It is human tendency to have favorites in everything whether it is a person, place or a thing. Though I have travelled across various countries in the world, I still cherish my first trip to Egypt. I had visited Egypt years ago and to revive memories of that trip, I visited Egypt again this year. I am not a millionaire to splurge on travel instead I do not have a job, have a low bank balance yet I pursue my passion of travelling.
Egypt boasts of its ancient civilization and its famous monuments like Great Sphinx and Wonder of the World Pyramid of Giza. I have always found this country a perfect blend of history and civilization which makes it so attractive for the tourists. During my visit to Egypt this year, I tried some different activities along with sightseeing. I took a camel ride on the desert plains at Giza and a cruise along the Nile River banks. I also visited rock temples carved out of mountain side at Abu Simbel. Another activity that thrilled me was scuba diving at the Blue Hole. It is located in Sinai Peninsula and the water becomes dizzying deep at some places making it adventurous for even trained scuba divers. As I had already seen Pyramids of Giza, this time I explored less popular pyramids like Red Pyramid and Bent Pyramid. I also visited Temple of Edfu at Kom Ombo and strolled around Alexandria. The most exciting part of this trip was the desert safari which lasted for 1 day and 1 night and even caught up with the tourist attractions at Luxor.
Though Egypt has always been a tourist attraction, but there has been a significant price tag attached to it. But I feel it will become a budget travel destination for 2012 as the political unrest in Egypt has also giiven a jolt to tourism here. After the travel warning put for Egypt by U.S., even the most famous destinations here are not getting lots of visitors. During my trip to Egypt this year, I found that rates of accommodation have been slashed significantly, even at luxury hotels. Travel operators are trying their best and giving some serious discounts to get flock of tourists back to Egypt. This situation seems to continue until 2012 and the period between March to May as well as September to November is the best to opt for a budget trip to Egypt.
A visit to Egypt in 2012 will sure live up to your expectations without causing a strain on your pocket.
