Camping at Ko Phi Phi Islands

IslandsIn Thailand, I met a group of friends, who were living in the same hotel where I lived. The night when I was supposed to return back, we all were having dinner together. One of them shared their plans about camping at the Ko Phi Phi Islands, it really sound interesting. Then they began to force me and join them with the camping. But it was high time and I had to return back to my city and rejoin my office. They forced me so much that I wasn’t able to say no to them and joined them with the camping. Thus, our journey began!

We started our journey towards the islands, that night itself and travelled overnight to reach our destination. After a long nine hours drive, we arrived at the dock, at around six in the morning. Within no time we boarded a boat and went straight towards the front, finally arriving at the Ko Phi Phi Don, a sparkling island. By that time, the sun came out and was blazing hard. After reaching the island we had to pay the entrance fee which was wasn’t much than 50-100 baht.

Our next task was to find some guest house or so for staying at night and it was really surprising to find all the guest houses occupied. Indeed it was a challenging job to find a place for us to stay that to within a reasonable rate. Finally, we found a double room at 1000 baht per night, which was much cheaper than the other 10 guest houses. But still, we were not that much happy with the room. We then thought of our own tents which we had bought after finding a perfect spot. Before it got dark, we successfully pitched the tents which were just around the corner from a huge beach.

When we were wandering around the tents, we came to know about the night markets on the Phi Phi islands. We actually went there and found it wasn’t much interesting as it only sells fake sunglasses and other things. Even though we were on a budget, we enjoyed a lot. For me it was a great camping experience with those guys.

We walked back to our tents from that market, till then the surrounding area was pretty quiet. We were undisturbed whole night and as far as the climate is concerned, it was pretty tough to get some sleep. I believed, it was one of the highlights of my holiday, which gave a great experience of camping.
