Mention of Las Vegas brings spark to a person’s eyes as this city is full of glitz and glamour. It is a favorite destination for rich, famous and people who love to splurge for luxury and entertainment. I was always curious to know what makes Las Vegas so appealing and it was hard to visualize casinos enthralled with visitors celebrating joys of success or sorrows of losing. I was just looking for an opportunity to set my foot on this wonderland and I got this chance pretty sooner than I expected. I got a free Las Vegas ticket for my frequent flyer miles. As the ticket had been taken care of, I had enough savings for a cash tight budget for a trip to the Sin City Las Vegas.
A visit to Las Vegas made me realize that though Las Vegas is full of lavishness, one can still bargain and strike economic deals here. The hotel rooms on the Las Vegas Strip were very expensive, but I was able to find a motor inn at reasonable rates in downtown Las Vegas. Though the inn did not have luxurious amenities, it was a comfortable and well equipped room.
The city of Las Vegas may be termed as an expensive city; there are lots of activities that can be done for free here too. I visited the Fountains of Bellagio where more than a thousand fountains dance to the tune of variety of music. I was also delighted to watch the unique performance ranging between opera to classical tunes. I enjoyed free to do things including watching the erupting volcano at Mirage and pirate show at Treasure Island. I also tried my luck (which didn’t work out at all) at a few gambling games at the low limit games which were ideal for cash trapped travelers like me. The circus acts including acrobats, jugglers, trapeze at Circus Circus was perfect entertainment for free. I was amazed to realize that Las Vegas is not all about gambling, there are other diverse activities available here too. The free self guided tour of Ethel’s chocolate factory was a great experience.
It was not difficult finding cheap food here as there are all-you-can-eat buffets operating round the clock. I especially loved the burger and fries at In N Out and also the steak dinner for $6.95 at Ellis Island. I always wanted to visit Venice and though I could not visit Venice, I loved strolling down the Venetian which has been constructed similar to Venice.
Las Vegas is an alluring city which people perceive to be expensive, but it is possible to explore it in a tight budget too.
