Venice, a unique city and a gem of Europe, has the power of making anyone coming here fall in love with this city. It is one of the dream destinations for any travel lovers and the reason why it attracts millions of visitors. Being a travel lover, I like going to new places, learning their culture, exploring natural wonders and historic monuments. Though most of my trips are on a very tight budget, it does not stop me from pursuing my passion for travelling. I always dreamt of visiting Venice, an expensive tourist destination, and somehow I managed to save enough for a very tight budget visit to Venice.

I was pretty sure that this trip would end in as a hole in my pocket and my savings were not enough but it did not turn out to be so. I realized that Venice is a feasible for budget travelers too and many travelers are unaware of this. Some simple tricks and pre planning goes a long way to enjoy Venice to its fullest even on a budget.

• Instead of paying sky high prices for hotels in Venice, look for accommodation in nearby areas like Mestre or Padua. Though commuting to Venice will cost time and money, the total expense would be quite less compared to high hotel prices.

• Instead of a gondola ride to move around, opt for the vapporetto (water bus) which is more reliable and economic.

• If you feel that your trip is incomplete without a gondola ride, go for a gondola ride little away from tourism intensive areas and negotiate for a better deal.

• Instead of blindly following the tour guide and visiting one tourist spot after other, try to spare some time to roam around the streets and get a genuine feel of Italian culture.

• Venice can be best explored by walking and try to avoid use of transport and walk down the city. It will also help save few dollars but do invest in a good map before going on the foot expedition.

• Many visitors complain that they had bad light food for a large sum of money in Venice. Instead of eating at restaurants overflowing with tourists, try eating at joints away from tourist places. The quality of food is better and price cheaper.
